EALA MP Winnie Odinga has commended President William Ruto for the support he has extended to the Odinga family following the death of her father, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Speaking on Tuesday during an interview with Citizen TV, Winnie highlighted the President’s personal outreach and the respect he showed to her late father

“Since my father passed on, the only senior leadership that has come to check up and take care of our family has been President Ruto,” she said.

Winnie emphasized that political differences do not diminish personal gratitude or acknowledgment of respect.

“I can still like you and disagree with you. I must also be grateful for the honour and respect the President accorded my father when he passed on,” she added.

The EALA MP’s remarks come amid ongoing speculation about the relationship between President Ruto and the Odinga family, particularly after the death of Raila Odinga in 2025.

By acknowledging the President’s support, Winnie appears to be drawing attention to the importance of maintaining civility and respect in Kenya’s often fractious political landscape.

The interview further showcased Winnie’s balanced approach to political discourse, emphasizing gratitude and recognition of service while maintaining independence of opinion.

Winnie Odinga remains a prominent figure in Kenyan politics, not only as Raila Odinga’s daughter but also as an advocate for civic engagement and political accountability in the East African Legislative Assembly.
