Kilifi County Governor Gideon Mung’aro has expressed profound sorrow following the death of Reverend Hon. Catherine Dzame Mukunza, a respected community leader and advocate for women’s empowerment.
In a statement shared on social media, Governor Mung’aro described Mama Dzame as a “devoted leader and a pillar of women empowerment in Kilifi County,” highlighting her significant contributions to the community.
She played a key role as the Women League Leader during Mung’aro’s gubernatorial campaign and was instrumental in co-founding the Malindi Nest Group, an initiative that brought together women across the county’s wards and positively impacted countless lives.
“Her passion, commitment, and selfless service will be deeply missed,” the governor said, noting her dedication to fostering unity and uplifting women across Kilifi.
Governor Mung’aro extended condolences to Dzame’s family, members of the Malindi Nest Group, the Women League, and the wider community who benefited from her leadership. He prayed for strength and comfort for her loved ones during this difficult time, wishing that her soul “rest in eternal peace.”
Reverend Dzame’s leadership in both civic and faith-based initiatives made her a respected figure in Kilifi County, particularly among women and youth.
Her passing marks a significant loss for the county’s women empowerment initiatives, leaving a gap in mentorship and advocacy that she championed with dedication for many years.
The County Government of Kilifi, alongside Mung’aro’s family, has called on residents to honor her memory by continuing to support initiatives that promote women’s welfare and leadership in the region
