Businessman Oketch Salah has publicly addressed allegations surrounding his relationship with the late former Prime Minister and former ODM party leader Raila Odinga, describing claims against him as “false and malicious.”
“I was with Baba throughout his pain. I know what it felt like. There were moments I genuinely thought I was losing him,” he said, emphasizing that his account reflects lived experience, not an attempt at sympathy or political relevance.
Salah stated that he engaged in extensive private conversations with Odinga, covering personal, political, and strategic matters.
He declined to disclose these discussions, citing respect for Odinga and his family.
“Silence should not be mistaken for falsehood or fear,” he added.
Addressing claims about his familial references to prominent figures such as Nurdin or Noordin Haji, Salah explained that in Islam and Somali culture, it is common to use terms like uncle, cousin, or brother as markers of respect and social closeness, not legal or genealogical relations.
He rejected allegations that such references implied fraud or overstepping family boundaries.
Salah further clarified that he never sought to replace Odinga’s family, insult, or sideline his wife, Mama Ida, or their children.
“Any suggestion that I insulted, sidelined, or spoke ill of them is false and malicious. I reject it completely,” he said.
The businessman insisted he is ready for public scrutiny and open to interviews to clarify any misconceptions.
“I confidently stand by this truth and will not be dragged into manufactured outrage or distractions,” he said.
Salah concluded by urging for dignity and restraint in handling sensitive matters, stressing that pain deserves respect, not public spectacle.
His statement comes amid ongoing debate and social media speculation over his closeness to the late ODM leader.
