Nyali MP Mohamed Ali has urged the family of the late former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo to have an independent pathologist present during the post-mortem scheduled for Wednesday.
In a statement on X, the former investigative journalist warned that the official narrative of Jirongo’s death does not fully explain the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
“To the family of the late Cyrus Jirongo, please make sure you have your own pathologist in that room tomorrow. The story doesn’t add up,” Ali said.
He added that in a previous interview, Jirongo had raised concerns about his personal safety—remarks he believes are critical and must not be overlooked.
The autopsy, set for today, will be conducted by government pathologists under the supervision of investigators, but Ali’s warning highlights growing public skepticism over the circumstances of Jirongo’s death.
Jirongo, a veteran politician and businessman, died last week when his vehicle collided head-on with a passenger bus along the Nairobi–Nakuru Highway near Naivasha.
While authorities initially described it as an accident, some leaders and members of the public have questioned whether all facts have been disclosed.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) continues to probe the case, reviewing forensic evidence and CCTV footage from the scene.
The autopsy is expected to provide a definitive cause of death, and the family’s decision to appoint an independent pathologist could ensure transparency during the process.
