Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has cast serious doubt on the official account of former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo’s death, claiming the widely reported head-on collision may not have happened as told.
Posting on X, Salasya argued that the damage on the Mercedes involved in the crash was too severe to match the narrative of a direct collision with a bus.
“The impact on the Mercedes machine was too heavy and could have brought down the entire bus if it was a real head-on collision,” he wrote.
He pointed out that in a genuine head-on collision, the bumpers would show major damage, and the tyres on both vehicles would likely burst completely.
“From this impact, it tells me if it’s a head-on collision, there is small impact ata the bumper of the Climax. Hapa ni nyundo ilifanya kazi kwa hii gari,” Salasya added.
The MP called the incident a potential “cover-up,” urging the public and authorities to probe further.
“Even a blind person can see this was a cover-up. We should now start asking why?” he said.
So far, Salasya’s claims have not been verified by independent experts, and police have yet to respond to the legislator’s allegations. The official investigation into Jirongo’s death is ongoing.
Jirongo, a prominent businessman and politician, passed away in a crash that has continued to raise questions and speculation across social media and political circles.
