President Ruto at his Farm

President William Ruto spent Christmas Day away from State House glare, choosing a low-key celebration in Narok County that blended faith, family and farming.

Early Thursday morning, the Head of State drove himself to PEFA Ikarian Cathedral in Lolgorian, Kilgoris, where he attended a Christmas Day service alongside First Lady Rachel Ruto.

His arrival drew excitement among congregants, many of whom welcomed the President with cheers and handshakes.

Inside the church, President Ruto and the First Lady delivered a joint festive message, urging Kenyans to embrace unity, peace and togetherness during the holiday season.

The President said Christmas should be a time to strengthen family bonds and reflect on what unites the country.

“May the birth of Jesus Christ bring hope, joy and peace to your homes. As we celebrate, let us cherish one another and the blessings that unite us as one nation,” he said.

The President was accompanied by former Assistant Minister Magerer Lang’at and several local leaders, underscoring his close ties to grassroots leadership in the region.

After the service, the First Family mingled briefly with worshippers, exchanging Christmas greetings before departing.

In a moment that caught many by surprise, President Ruto reportedly got behind the wheel and drove off himself, keeping the visit simple and informal.

According to a source quoted by the Nation, the President later spent most of Christmas Day inspecting his expansive farm in the area. The visit was private and away from official duties.

Ruto’s Christmas routine offered a glimpse of a quieter side of the presidency, far removed from rallies and boardrooms, centred instead on faith, family and farming.
