The National Police Service (NPS) on Saturday, 13 December 2025, joined family, colleagues, and leaders to honour and lay to rest the late Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Philip Kipchirchir Tuimur at his home in Kabutie Village, Chesumei Sub-County, Nandi County.
Mr Tuimur died on Saturday, 6 December 2025, after a short illness, according to a statement by the NPS.
The Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, was represented at the burial by the Deputy Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service (DIG-KPS), Eliud Lagat. DIG Lagat conveyed condolence messages on behalf of the Ministry of Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, the Inspector General, the Deputy Inspector General of the Administration Police Service Gilbert Masengeli, and the Director of Criminal Investigations Mohamed Amin.
In remarks delivered on behalf of the police leadership, Mr Tuimur was eulogised as a devoted family man and a career police officer who served the public with discipline, courage, and integrity.
He was remembered for his steady judgement, mentorship of young officers, and insistence on honour and accountability in the execution of duty, the NPS said.
Senior police officers attended the ceremony, including the Director of Training and Research (KPS) David Birech, SAIG; the Director of Community Policing (KPS) Judy Lamet, SAIG; Rift Valley Regional Police Commander Samuel Ndanyi, AIG; Nandi County Police Commander Samwel Mukuusi, CP; and Chesumei Sub-County Police Commander Silas Kiogora, SSP.
County and national leaders also joined the mourners. Those present included Nandi Governor Stephen Sang, Deputy Governor Dr Yulita Cheruiyot, Nandi County Commissioner Wilberforce Kilonzo, and Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) Commissioner Dr Micah Onyiengo, among others.
The NPS said Mr Tuimur’s career spanned decades of service marked by commitment to public safety and security.
In its message, the Service extended condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues, noting his contribution to policing and leadership within the institution.
The burial brought together the police fraternity and the local community in a final tribute to a senior officer whose service was acknowledged by both peers and leaders.
