Cabinet Secretary for Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs Ali Hassan Joho has mourned the death of renowned Mombasa-based creative Basheikh Abdallah Basheikh, popularly known as Abdallah Moi.

Joho shared his message of condolence on X on Monday, expressing grief over the loss of the popular humorist.

In his statement, the CS extended condolences to the family, relatives, friends, and the wider creative fraternity following Abdallah Moi’s passing.

He described the late creative as a gifted performer whose work brought joy to many across the country.

Abdallah Moi was widely known for his humorous impersonations of prominent Kenyan leaders.

Through satire and wit, he built a strong following, particularly on digital platforms, where his content often reflected everyday political and social realities in a light-hearted manner.

Joho noted that Abdallah Moi used humor as a unifying tool, stating that his craft turned ordinary moments into laughter and offered relief to many.

He added that the creative’s voice and presence would be deeply missed within the industry.

The Cabinet Secretary also reflected on the Islamic perspective of life and death, noting that the world is temporary and that every soul returns to its Creator at an appointed time.

He prayed for Allah’s mercy upon the deceased and asked for forgiveness for his shortcomings.

“I pray that Allah (SWT) envelops him in His boundless mercy and grants him a noble place among the righteous,” Joho said in the statement.

He further prayed for patience and strength for Abdallah Moi’s family as they navigate the difficult period of mourning.

Tributes from fellow creatives and members of the public have continued to pour in online, with many remembering Abdallah Moi for his ability to use humor to address serious issues without hostility.

Details surrounding his death had not been publicly disclosed by the family at the time of publication.

Abdallah Moi’s passing marks another loss to Kenya’s growing creative and digital content sector, particularly in the coastal region where he built his career.
