Nyali MP Mohamed Ali has publicly refuted claims that he plans to support Governor Abdulswamad Nassir’s second term in Mombasa’s 2027 elections.
The legislator used his X account to address the rumours, insisting that he remains committed to challenging the incumbent governor.
Ali described the reports as false and politically motivated, pointing to what he called a lack of development under Nassir’s administration.
“The only conversation I will have with him is about how he needs to pack up and go home,” Ali said, highlighting his focus on holding county leadership accountable.
He also warned political propagandists that their efforts to mislead the public would fail.
“Mombasa people will not fall for theatrics. They are desperate for change and change is coming,” Ali added, underlining the growing frustration among residents over infrastructure, service delivery, and governance issues.
This statement comes as political watchers note an early stirring of 2027 campaigns, with leaders beginning to position themselves ahead of the county’s highly competitive gubernatorial race.
Ali, who unsuccessfully contested the governor’s seat in 2022, appears intent on maintaining visibility and rallying support among voters seeking a shift in leadership.
Governor Nassir has not responded publicly to Ali’s remarks.
