Sossion Warns Opposition Against Building 2027 Strategy on Anti-Ruto Sentiment

Former KNUT Secretary-General Wilson Sossion has cautioned the opposition against basing its 2027 campaign strategy solely on criticism of President William Ruto, saying Kenyans deserve leaders who can present real solutions rather than resentment.

Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV on Monday, Sossion said the emerging coalition of opposition parties seems to lack a clear and practical vision for the country.

He challenged the leaders to articulate concrete plans that address the everyday struggles of Kenyans instead of focusing on political rivalries.

“Any political grouping must have a clear agenda that unites all Kenyans and gives them hope. Unfortunately, what seems to unite the opposition today is hatred for President Ruto and greed for power,” Sossion remarked, emphasizing that politics without policy only deepens national divisions.

His comments come as talks of a joint opposition front between Raila Odinga’s ODM, Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper, and several other parties intensify.

The coalition has been holding meetings and rallies to push for what they call “inclusive and people-centered leadership.”

Sossion, who has lately aligned himself with the Kenya Kwanza administration, urged the opposition to offer credible alternatives instead of repetitive criticism.

He noted that the public is increasingly demanding issue-based politics anchored on economic growth, education reforms, and youth empowerment.

While opposition figures accuse the Ruto government of poor economic performance and unfulfilled promises, Sossion maintained that without clear policy direction, their criticism will fail to inspire voter confidence.

With the 2027 election campaigns gradually taking shape, his remarks add to the growing debate about whether the opposition’s unity efforts are driven by principle or political expediency.
