ODM Speaks Out as Raila Odinga’s Health Rumours Spark Political Debate

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has moved to dispel growing rumours about the health of its leader Raila Odinga, describing the reports as false, malicious, and politically instigated.

In a statement released on Sunday by Raila’s spokesperson Denis Onyango, the party accused politicians linked to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, and DAP-K’s Eugene Wamalwa of fueling a coordinated disinformation campaign.

Onyango said the individuals were spreading falsehoods through social media and unverified online platforms to score political points.

He clarified that Raila is in perfect health and had recently travelled abroad for personal engagements, not medical treatment as alleged by his detractors.

“Mr. Odinga is in good health. Claims that he was flown to Europe for treatment are baseless and malicious,” Onyango stated.

The spokesperson further dismissed what he termed as recycled propaganda that mirrors earlier attempts to smear Raila during his bid for the African Union Commission chairmanship.

He said such fabrications were aimed at diverting attention from pressing national issues and dragging Raila into unnecessary political squabbles.

Onyango reminded Kenyans that Raila has always been transparent about his health whenever necessary, citing past occasions when he personally disclosed undergoing medical procedures.

“Were he to be unwell, he would say so himself. He has never hidden anything from the public,” he said.

He assured supporters that Raila remains actively engaged in political consultations and continues to champion national unity and dialogue under the Broad-Based Government framework.

ODM urged the public to ignore sensational online claims and rely on official communication from the party regarding the former Prime Minister’s activities and well-being.
