Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has welcomed the first phase of a peace plan with Hamas as a “diplomatic success” that will see all hostages returned to Israel.
Speaking after the deal was announced, Netanyahu described the agreement as a national and moral victory for the State of Israel.
“With the approval of the first phase of the plan, all our hostages will be brought home,” Netanyahu said.
He emphasized that from the outset, his government had been committed to securing the release of every captive and achieving Israel’s strategic objectives.
The Prime Minister credited the success to a combination of military resolve and diplomatic efforts, highlighting the role of U.S. President Donald Trump in brokering the historic deal.
“Through steadfast resolve, powerful military action, and the great efforts of our great friend and ally President Trump, we have reached this critical turning point,” he said.
Netanyahu expressed deep appreciation for Trump’s leadership and unwavering commitment to Israel’s security, describing the former U.S. President’s involvement as instrumental in bringing the first phase to fruition.
The agreement, Netanyahu noted, marks the beginning of a process that aims to strengthen regional stability and ensure the safety of Israeli citizens.
“God bless Israel. God bless America. God bless our great alliance,” Netanyahu concluded, underscoring the enduring partnership between the two nations.
The announcement follows weeks of intense diplomatic activity involving international mediators from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey.
