A shocking video of a young woman in Narok being assaulted by men believed to be her brothers has sparked fury across the country.
The men are accused of trying to force her into marrying a man she does not want, an act that has drawn sharp condemnation from the Law Society of Kenya (LSK).
In a hard-hitting statement on X, LSK President Faith Odhiambo blasted the incident, describing it as “detestable” and nothing short of sexual violence.
She dismissed attempts to disguise such actions as tradition, insisting that the law is clear.
“This is not culture, it is violence. Kenya’s Constitution guarantees freedom of choice and prohibits practices that trample on human rights," Odhiambo said.
The viral video shows the woman being attacked as she resists the forced marriage.
The disturbing footage has triggered a wave of outrage from activists, rights groups, and ordinary Kenyans, many of whom are demanding immediate justice.
Odhiambo has called on police to swing into action without delay.
“We urge authorities to identify and arrest all those behind this brutal act,” she declared.
Forced marriages remain outlawed in Kenya, yet such cases continue to surface, particularly in rural areas where harmful cultural practices persist.
