The head of Presidential Special Projects and Creative Economy, Denis Itumbi, has fired back at the Daily Nation over claims that the whistleblower behind the massive SHA fraud scandal lost his job.
In its Friday edition, the paper reported that Andrew Rotich, the auditor who exposed a Sh10 billion medical billing scam, had been sidelined and left out of the authority’s recruitment shortlist.
Rotich, appointed Deputy Director of Forensic Audit and Risk Assurance earlier this year, was allegedly no longer in the running for a key position.
Itumbi wasted no time refuting the story on X, calling it outright false.
“The Daily Nation is lying. Andrew Rotich never applied for Deputy Director as the paper claims. He applied for Assistant Director and is already shortlisted for interviews,” Itumbi wrote.
He did not hold back, accusing the newspaper of turning truth into a rare commodity.
“The Nation has become a factory of lies,” he said.
The controversy comes after Rotich exposed fraudulent claims by over 1,300 hospitals, triggering deregistration and the rejection of suspicious claims totaling Sh10 billion.
