Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has hailed Martha Karua for her bold declaration to run for president in 2027, calling her a courageous leader who has always stood for justice.
Speaking after the People’s Liberation Party (PLP) National Delegates Conference on Thursday, Kalonzo described Karua’s event as “powerful” and applauded her commitment to principle and service.
“I have known Martha for many years, a courageous and intelligent leader who has never wavered in standing for what is right. Today, as she boldly declared her bid for the presidency in 2027, she reminded us that leadership is about courage, principle, and service,” Kalonzo said in a statement on X.
Kalonzo also used the moment to reinforce opposition unity, branding the coalition as the “Government-in-Waiting.”
He didn’t hold back in his criticism of President William Ruto’s government, accusing it of betraying Kenyans and exposing the country to international scrutiny.
Kalonzo pointed to Kenya’s grey-listing over money laundering and alleged that Ruto’s speech at the United Nations was an attempt at “reputation laundering,” ignoring the nation’s role in the Sudan conflict.
“Ruto speaks about conflicts in Sudan while conveniently ignoring the fact that his government has openly backed RSF and that Kenyan arms have been traced in that brutal war,” Kalonzo charged.
He warned that Kenyans and the global community should stay alert, promising that the opposition will restore integrity and rebuild Kenya’s standing in the world.
“Kenyans are watching. The world is watching,” he added.
