Citizen TV journalist and Nyakach parliamentary aspirant Trevor Ombija has come under fresh scrutiny after claiming that former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua attempted to have him fired from Royal Media Services following a heated television interview.
Ombija's claim, however, was disputed by RMS Group Editorial Director Linus Kaikai, who said there was no call from Gachagua seeking the journalist's dismissal.
Kaikai said he personally sought clarification from Ombija over the remarks, revealing that the journalist described them as a "mistake" and said he regretted making them.
According to Kaikai, Ombija also told him that he did not expect his remarks to attract attention.
The development has now drawn a fresh response from Emma Too, who has revived her own long-running dispute with Ombija while questioning his conduct.
Too alleged that Ombija previously sued her for defamation after she claimed he had nearly caused her to lose her job. She further accused him of failing to attend court hearings in the case despite having initiated the legal proceedings.
"He sued me for almost getting him fired at work too, yet he never shows up for court hearing, even just last week, and earlier this year," Too said.
Too claimed that the defamation case had been running for about four years, warning that the matter could soon become more significant.
"It's been four years since he sued for defamation. This defamation will be mounting soon," she added.
She also criticised Ombija over the latest controversy, accusing him of making statements without considering the possibility that they would attract wider public attention.
"That man says things and never thinks it would pick up. Making up stories about people isn't a joke!" Too said.
Too further took issue with what she described as Ombija's use of his position as a journalist to support claims about other people.
"Using his job to validate his lies is even more sick," she stated.
Her remarks add another dimension to the controversy surrounding Ombija as he seeks to move from journalism into elective politics in Nyakach.
The latest dispute follows a period of heightened attention on Ombija after his account of his interaction with Gachagua was publicly challenged by Kaikai.
Too ended her statement with a pointed observation about the developments surrounding the journalist.
"People have a way of revealing themselves," she said.
