Former Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has come out in defence of Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, accusing Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei of being part of a coordinated political effort to undermine the lawmaker.
Kuria made the remarks as political tensions surrounding Nyoro continue to intensify ahead of the 2027 General Election, with the Kiharu MP increasingly emerging as a prominent figure in the succession debate.
In a pointed statement, Kuria questioned Cherargei's position on presidential term limits while linking the senator to what he described as an organised campaign against Nyoro.
“Samson Cherargei once or still wanted to remove the term limit for the Presidency. He is now part of a well oiled cabal to destroy Ndindi Nyoro,” Kuria said.
The former lawmaker said he would resist any attempt to politically eliminate Nyoro, signalling that the battle over the Kiharu MP's future could attract wider support from political figures.
“I will not allow this to happen. Over my dead body,” he added.
Kuria also accused unnamed regions of applying double standards in the management of political succession.
He argued that while some communities were preparing their preferred leaders for future contests, they were simultaneously seeking to weaken potential candidates from other regions.
“Some regions want to rear their best heifers for the future while destroying those from other regions,” Kuria said.
His remarks come as Nyoro faces growing scrutiny over his political ambitions and the establishment of the People’s Party of Kenya.
Nyoro has rejected claims that his political vehicle is designed to serve President William Ruto's interests, insisting that it is intended to provide an alternative platform for politicians and voters.
The Kiharu MP has also become embroiled in a public political dispute with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, further placing his political ambitions under the spotlight.
Cherargei, meanwhile, has previously criticised Nyoro on matters ranging from government policy to his conduct during key political debates.
