Zimbabwean businessman and billionaire Wicknell Chivayo has shared a video showing President William Ruto personally driving him and his wife after attending the engagement ceremony of the President’s daughter, Charlene Ruto.
Chivayo, who was among the high-profile guests at the private family celebration held over the weekend, described the short journey with Ruto as one of the most memorable experiences of his life.
In a post accompanying the video, the Zimbabwean businessman said he initially thought the engagement celebration could not become more special before receiving an unexpected offer from Ruto.
“Imagine His Excellency President Ruto personally offered to drive me and drop me approximately three kilometres to the helipad where I had left my helicopter,” Chivayo said.
The video shows Ruto behind the steering wheel of a vehicle, with Chivayo seated in the front passenger seat and his wife sitting at the back. The President appears to be personally driving the couple towards the helipad where Chivayo's helicopter was waiting.
Chivayo said the moment left him overwhelmed, describing the three-kilometre journey as a “priceless” experience that he would remember for the rest of his life.
“I sat there overwhelmed with joy, thinking, ‘God, what kind of grace is this?’” he wrote.
The businessman, known for his flamboyant lifestyle and frequent displays of luxury, said he had experienced many remarkable moments but had never previously found himself being personally driven by a sitting head of state.
“I've lived large and had many different and exceptionally beautiful experiences in my opulent lifestyle, but certainly this was a first,” he said.
Chivayo also praised Ruto for what he described as humility, kindness and genuine affection, thanking the Kenyan President for treating him “as your own child.”
He said the brief drive was much more significant to him than the distance covered, adding that it became a lasting memory from his visit to Kenya.
“What may have been a short drive for you became a memory of a lifetime for me,” Chivayo said.
He concluded the post by attributing the experience to his faith, saying he boarded his helicopter with a “full heart” and gave thanks to God.
The businessman also addressed Ruto directly, writing: “Thank you so much Your Excellency… Asante sana, Rais wangu.”
The video has drawn attention online because of the unusual nature of the scene, with Ruto, who normally travels with an official security and motorcade arrangement, appearing behind the wheel as he drove a foreign businessman to his helicopter.
Chivayo’s visit to Kenya comes amid his increasingly visible association with prominent political and business figures across the region.
His latest post focused largely on his personal appreciation of Ruto and the significance he attached to the encounter.
