Mau Mau General Kassam Njogu remains one of the most striking figures in Kenya’s armed struggle against colonial rule.
As the leader of the Kimuri battalion operating around Mt Kenya, he fought in some of the harshest conditions of the rebellion, where danger came not only from British firepower but also from betrayal within the ranks.
In later recollections, Kassam described a war in which surrendered fighters became a new kind of threat.
According to him, some former comrades who had secretly surrendered to the British returned as informers and spies, helping colonial forces locate and ambush fighters in the forest. Get The Full Story Here
