A social media reflection by a man identified as Mwalimu Chemosey has stirred heated online debate after he narrated a personal experience he says happened shortly after completing his Form Four studies while working in a hotel.
In his widely shared post, Chemosey describes the period after high school as uncertain and financially challenging, noting that he took up a hotel job during the waiting period before university admission.
“After completing Form 4, I secured a job in a certain hotel. Back then, we used to wait for two years before joining university, basically a long holiday with stress,” he wrote.
He recalls that the incident occurred one evening when the hotel closed late following a busy shift marked by heavy rainfall and a surge of customers.
As the cashier responsible for balancing accounts, he says the team took time to close operations, leaving him among the last staff at the premises.
According to his narration, the hotel owner, an older woman he describes as motherly, offered him a place to stay due to the late hour and harsh weather conditions.
“She had a car, but there was no way she could drop me home. Our road plus rain? Even Noah would have reconsidered the journey. So she said, ‘Twende kwangu, ulale alafu uamkie kazi,’” he narrated.
Chemosey says he initially assumed it was a normal arrangement, expecting to sleep in a separate room within the household. However, he claims the situation changed upon arrival at the home.
“Twenty minutes later, we arrived. Nice house. Quiet. Too quiet. Even the dogs were just there looking at me like they knew something I didn’t,” he wrote.
He further alleges that what followed became an uncomfortable and unexpected encounter that left him feeling trapped and confused, describing it as a situation influenced by authority and pressure.
“I tried to decline, but she sighed and said, ‘Let’s not go that route.’ At that point, I knew even Google Maps would not help me find an escape route,” he added.
Chemosey concludes by reflecting on the experience as one that left a lasting emotional impact, saying it shaped how he now views boundaries and workplace relationships.
“To date, that remains one of the most confusing and uncomfortable experiences of my life. Terrible feeling ever,” he wrote.
The post has triggered mixed reactions online, with some users raising concerns about power imbalance and workplace ethics, while others urged caution in interpreting personal narratives shared on social media.
The story continues to circulate widely, fueling broader conversations on consent, vulnerability of young workers, and professional conduct in informal employment settings.
