Nine suspected members of a notorious criminal gang have been arrested in a coordinated intelligence-led operation in Trans Nzoia West Sub-County, following a crackdown targeting rising insecurity in the area.
The operation, conducted jointly by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations Headquarters and Kitale Police Station, focused on Premium and Tuwani areas, which have in recent weeks been identified as hotspots of gang-related incidents affecting residents and businesses.
Acting on credible intelligence, the security teams moved swiftly, launching targeted raids that led to the arrest of the nine suspects, effectively disrupting what investigators describe as an organised group responsible for instilling fear and disrupting public order.
According to the DCI, the suspects are currently in custody undergoing processing as detectives prepare the case file ahead of their arraignment in court.
Investigations are ongoing to identify any additional members linked to the gang network and to curb further criminal activity in the region.
The arrests are part of an intensified security campaign aimed at dismantling organised criminal groups operating within Trans Nzoia County, where residents have recently raised concerns over increasing cases of theft, intimidation, and violence attributed to gang activity.
Security agencies have urged members of the public to continue sharing information to support ongoing operations, assuring that efforts to restore order and enhance safety across the region will be sustained.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations reiterated its commitment to working closely with other security agencies to neutralise criminal networks and ensure sustained peace in the western region, noting that intelligence-led policing remains central to its strategy in responding to emerging security threats.
Residents have been encouraged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to authorities through established channels to support crime prevention efforts across the sub-county.
