Embakasi East parliamentary aspirant Vincent Opar has issued a pointed political message to Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, weighing in on rising internal tensions within ODM and the broader leadership dynamics in Nyanza.

In the message, Opar cautions against continued internal battles, arguing that they have not delivered meaningful political gains for the community at the national level.

“If the war is not delivering the presidency to the Luo Nation, please, recall the useless bloggers because they are causing you a leg, leave alone an arm,” he stated.

He argues that the focus should shift from internal confrontations to broader political strategy and national negotiation.

Criticism of repeated internal political fights

Opar says repeated disputes within ODM have weakened rather than strengthened the party’s political position, noting that internal competition has often produced no clear winners in terms of national influence.

He points to past political disagreements involving senior ODM figures, arguing that attempts to isolate or politically weaken rivals have not changed their standing.

“You fought Raymond, asked for his removal from office to handle money directly from State House, nothing changed, the President loves him even more,” he said.

He also referenced earlier political tensions involving Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, saying such battles have not altered political realities on the ground.

Millie Odhiambo enters the centre of debate

A major part of Opar’s message focuses on Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo, whose influence within ODM continues to grow amid internal debates over leadership direction in Homa Bay.

Opar warns against political confrontation with her, arguing that she enjoys strong public support and a consistent political identity.

“Now you are on Millie Mabona, lol, recall the barking dogs. You cannot win that public pitch against her, everyone will choose her even if your bloggers were to write every second and be paid 100K per day,” he stated.

He adds that her political strength is rooted in consistency and public perception rather than temporary political positioning.

“Character supersedes moments. For Millie, people are defending a steady path, an inspiration, and a journey one can trace,” he said.

Governance questions and budget concerns

Opar also raised concerns about governance priorities in Homa Bay County, questioning how development funds are being utilised under Governor Wanga.

He compared county resources with constituency-level allocations, arguing that the scale of funding should reflect stronger development outcomes, particularly for young people.

He claimed that despite the significant budget, visible transformation remains limited, a point that has often featured in broader political debates on county performance.

Warning over national political realignments

The Embakasi East aspirant further warned that broader national political realignments are already underway, suggesting that internal ODM divisions could weaken the party’s leverage in future political negotiations.

He argued that major political players are already positioning themselves ahead of future elections, leaving smaller internal disputes less relevant in the long term.

“Time always vindicates James Orengo. He is just holding the Linda Mwananchi team from forming another party because he respects Baba,” he noted, referencing wider ODM dynamics.

Call for unity and strategic direction

Opar urged Governor Wanga and other ODM leaders to reconsider their approach to internal disagreements, calling for unity and coordinated strategy instead of prolonged political conflict.

“It is unnecessary fighting among brothers, pitching that war against the enemy is more important,” he said.

He warned that continued internal divisions risk weakening ODM’s influence, potentially leaving its leaders politically exposed in future arrangements.

Broader ODM political context

The remarks come at a time when ODM is experiencing renewed internal debate over succession, zoning arrangements, and leadership influence in Nyanza, particularly in Homa Bay County.
