Siaya Governor James Orengo has expressed confidence ahead of the upcoming Linda Mwananchi rally set for Machakos County, describing it as a key platform to engage citizens on governance and economic concerns.
In a message shared before the event, Orengo confirmed that the rally will take place on Sunday, May 31, 2026, in Machakos, also known as Masaku.
He called on residents to attend in large numbers as the movement continues to expand its presence across the country.
“Sunday, May 31st, the Linda Mwananchi team is landing live in the heartbeat of Masaku,” Orengo said.
“We are bringing the grassroots movement straight to your doorstep to talk matters accountability, economic liberation, and real solutions for the ordinary mwananchi.”
The rally will be the first Linda Mwananchi event in the Ukambani region, following previous stops in Kisumu, Vihiga, Nakuru, Mombasa, and Kitengela.
The Machakos meeting is expected to test the movement’s reach beyond its initial strongholds.
Orengo said the discussions will focus on issues affecting ordinary Kenyans, including the cost of living, accountability in leadership, and economic challenges facing households.
“Clear the highways, pack the venues, and let’s shape the future together because the welfare of our people is non-negotiable,” he added.
The governor’s remarks also included local expressions aimed at connecting with residents in the region, underscoring the grassroots approach of the campaign.
The rally comes after a brief break in the Linda Mwananchi programme and signals renewed mobilisation efforts by leaders involved in the initiative.
Preparations are ongoing in Machakos, with organisers expecting a large turnout.
