A deeply emotional post shared in the Facebook group PARENTING Teenagers Hub for Kenyan Mum’s and Dads has sparked widespread discussion after a mother detailed the painful challenges she is facing with her two teenage children.

In the post, the woman says she feels emotionally drained and overwhelmed, describing a situation that has left her questioning her parenting journey.

“I'm drained, my son is smoking weed, he told me I won't advice him to stop,” she wrote, expressing frustration over her son’s alleged drug use and refusal to heed parental guidance.

She further alleges that the boy has been spending all his earnings from casual work on cannabis and muguka, leaving her worried about his future stability.

“The son got a kibarua but all his money ni kwa weed na muguka,” she added, noting that repeated attempts to correct him have not yielded results.

The mother also raised concern over her teenage daughter, who reportedly became a mother at 18 and is now living between her boyfriend’s home and her family house.

She claims attempts to question her daughter’s lifestyle have been met with hostility.

“Juzi a friend came across her dancing on TikTok… I asked her in the politest way, she is at her boyfriend’s, they have been raising the kid together so I decided not to interfere,” she wrote, describing her struggle to balance concern and respect for her daughter’s independence.

However, tensions at home appear to have escalated further. The mother claims that when she raised concerns, she was verbally dismissed.

“She has said that I'm not her mom,” she stated, highlighting the emotional strain the situation has caused.

She also revealed that attempts by relatives to intervene have worsened the situation.

“Parents after asking her about the TikTok videos, nilitusiwa mimi na sistangu,” she wrote, saying the confrontation led to further family conflict.

In her closing remarks, the mother appealed for guidance from fellow parents, expressing fear for her health and emotional wellbeing.

“Nifanye nini wazazi… I'm drained, I feel like a failed parent,” she wrote, adding that she is considering stepping back from constant confrontation.

The post has triggered a wider debate among Kenyan parents online, with many urging counselling, structured family intervention, and stronger community support systems to address rising cases of teenage substance use and early independence.
