President William Ruto on Monday visited the family of the late Johana Ngeno at their Karen residence, offering condolences and paying tribute to a legislator he described as a dedicated servant of the people.
Ngeno died on Saturday in a chopper crash in Mosop area, Nandi couty.
His passing shocked residents of Emurua Dikirr Constituency and leaders across Narok County, where he had built a reputation as an outspoken and development-focused representative.
In a message shared on social media after the visit, the President praised the late lawmaker’s contribution to the welfare of his constituents, the country, and humanity.
He described Ngeno as a friend and a leader who committed his life to public service.
During the visit, Ruto met the widow of the late MP, Naiyanoi Ntutu, and extended his sympathies to the bereaved family. He encouraged them to remain strong during the mourning period and assured them of the government’s support.
“You did your best. You contributed to the welfare of the community, the nation and humanity,” the President wrote, adding that the country should draw comfort from scripture during moments of grief.
He cited Psalm 147:3, which says, “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds,” urging the family and residents of Emurua Dikirr to find strength in faith as they come to terms with the loss.
Ngeno’s death has drawn tributes from leaders across the political divide, who have described him as a vocal advocate for development and a firm defender of his constituents’ interests in Parliament.
Burial arrangements are expected to be announced following consultations between the family, community elders, and local leaders.
