Narok Governor Patrick Ole Ntutu on Monday visited the home of the late Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ngeno in Mogondo Village to offer condolences following the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of Ngeno and five others.

Speaking to family members, Governor Ntutu described his overwhelming grief, noting that the late MP was not only a close political ally but also his son-in-law.

“My heart is heavy as I mourn my friend, political confidant, and son-in-law. I am deeply overwhelmed by this painful loss,” he said.

The governor extended his sympathies to the families of the other victims, including Ngeno’s staff member Wycliffe Rono, popularly known as “Sportpesa,” Kenya Forest Service officer Amos Kipngetich, Carlos Keter, and Nick Kosgey.

He assured them of the county’s solidarity in this moment of profound sorrow.

Governor Ntutu also acknowledged the wider community’s pain, expressing condolences to the people of Emurua Dikirr, Transmara, Narok County, the Kipsigis community, and the broader Kalenjin nation.

He lauded the late MP as a “brave, hardworking, and forthright leader” whose absence leaves a significant void.

While mourning, Governor Ntutu emphasized the importance of uncovering the circumstances behind the tragedy.

“I continue to call for independent and thorough investigations to ascertain the cause of the accident,” he stated, signaling a push for accountability and transparency.

The governor was accompanied by his deputy, Tamalinye Koech, Bomet Governor Hillary Barchok, Narok Woman Representative Rebecca Tonkei, Kilgoris MP Julius Ole Sunkuli, Chepalungu MP Victor Koech Mandazi, several MCAs from Narok and Bomet counties, County Commissioner Kipkech Lotiatia, and members of the County Security Team.

Residents of Mogondo Village and the wider Narok community continue to grapple with the shock of losing a leader known for his dedication to public service.

The governor concluded his visit with a prayer for the departed, saying, “May their souls rest in eternal peace.”

The incident has sparked calls from local leaders and political figures for enhanced safety measures for officials and thorough investigations into aviation accidents affecting public servants.
