Emurua Dikirr constituency in Narok County came together on Friday to mourn the passing of former Member of Parliament Johana Ngeno, who tragically died in a plane crash last Saturday alongside five others.

The burial drew a large turnout, including President William Ruto, Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen, and several national leaders.

Addressing the gathering at Emurua Dikirr Primary School, CS Murkomen described Ngeno as “a courageous and visionary leader who cared deeply for his people.”

He highlighted the late MP’s commitment to defending his constituents and his support for creatives and artistes across Kenya.

“He fiercely defended his constituents and selflessly championed creatives and artistes from far and wide,” Murkomen said.

The Interior CS also extended condolences to the bereaved family, including Ngeno’s mother Mary, wife Naiyianoi, and children Taparon and Chesang.

“May the Lord comfort his mum, wife, their children, and the entire family. His legacy lives on in his good deeds and the ideals he cherished,” Murkomen added.

Tributes were also paid to Ngeno’s aides—Wycliffe Kiprotich Ronoh, Amos Kipngetich Rotich, Nicholas Kiplangat Koskei, and Robert Kipkoech Rono—who perished alongside him in the crash. Leaders and community members observed a moment of silence in their memory.

“May the Almighty God rest their souls in eternal peace and grant their families strength and comfort at this difficult time,” Murkomen concluded.

The burial marked a solemn moment for Narok County, reflecting both the loss of a committed public servant and the enduring impact of his work in championing the welfare of his constituents.

The ceremony reinforced national unity and the importance of leadership that prioritizes service and vision.

This event leaves the community reflecting on Ngeno’s legacy while grieving the sudden loss of five lives that were part of his inner circle, highlighting the fragility of life even among Kenya’s leaders.
