Kajiado North MP Onesmus Ngogoyo has described the late Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ngeno as a leader who held a deep respect for the people of Mt Kenya and championed peaceful coexistence across regional divides. Ngeno perished in a plane crash last Saturday, leaving a void in both local and national politics.
Speaking to a local outlet, Ngogoyo noted that Ngeno consistently acknowledged the role of Mt Kenya’s entrepreneurial spirit in complementing the Rift Valley economy.
“Not once did he publicly say he saw enterprise mentality of Mt Kenya people as a complimenting attribute of Rift Valley economy. He was for peaceful coexistence, and we jointly attended peace meetings with the National Security Committee to find peace guarantees in Rift Valley,” Ngogoyo said.
The Kajiado North MP recalled Ngeno’s growing concern over tensions between President William Ruto and Mt Kenya leaders, highlighting the late MP’s stance on political missteps that he believed threatened national harmony.
“Mr Ng’eno was growing restless with the fallout between President Ruto and Mt Kenya people,” Ngogoyo said. “He was of the opinion that those who advised the incumbent to impeach Mr Gachagua erred.”
Ngogoyo emphasized that Ngeno’s approach was always rooted in dialogue and reconciliation rather than confrontation.
His dedication to bridging political and ethnic divides in the Rift Valley reflected a broader commitment to stability and inclusivity, which earned him respect across regional and political lines.
The late MP’s untimely death has sparked reflections from colleagues who admired his efforts in promoting regional understanding and economic collaboration.
