A middle-aged woman was found dead inside a matatu along the Ongata Rongai to Nairobi CBD route on Friday morning, shocking passengers and local residents.

According to witnesses, the woman, an employee at a bank in Tuskys Rongai, was traveling to work when the incident occurred.

The matatu reportedly reached its final destination, but she did not alight with other passengers.

It was only after everyone else had disembarked that the conductor noticed she remained seated and unresponsive. Attempts to revive her proved unsuccessful.

“The conductor realized she had not alighted at Tuskys,” said an eyewitness. “It was a sad morning for everyone on the bus.”

Her body was immediately taken to Rongai Police Station as authorities work to notify her next of kin and verify her identity.

Police are handling the case as a sudden death, pending further investigation.

No passengers reportedly noticed any distress during the journey, highlighting the sudden nature of her passing.

The incident has left commuters shaken and prompted calls for public transport operators to be trained in basic emergency response to assist passengers in distress.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the fragility of life and the need for awareness of health emergencies in public spaces.
