The Office of former President Uhuru Kenyatta has clarified reports of a planned visit by a group of young people to his private residence in Ichaweri, Gatundu, urging organizers to pursue formal channels to facilitate meaningful engagement.

In a statement issued Sunday, the office acknowledged circulating reports on social media about the intended visit and emphasized the former Head of State’s respect for the role of young people in shaping Kenya’s future.

The communication, signed by Secretary of Communication Kanze Dena Mararo, noted that while Kenyatta values youth patriotism and fresh ideas, he is currently unable to host the group at his home.

“The former President deeply respects the energy, ideas, and patriotism of Kenya’s youth,” the statement read, underscoring his belief that intergenerational dialogue is vital in strengthening national cohesion and guiding the country’s direction.

Despite declining the impromptu visit, the office reaffirmed Kenyatta’s openness to meeting young people and other stakeholders through structured and peaceful arrangements.

Organizers of such initiatives were encouraged to formally communicate with the office in advance to allow planning of engagements that promote order, dignity, and productive dialogue.

The statement stressed that constructive engagement should take precedence over actions that may disrupt peace or create unnecessary tension.

It framed dialogue as a unifying tool capable of bridging differences and strengthening democratic participation.

“Kenya belongs to all of us. Let us always choose dialogue over disruption and engagement over division,” the statement concluded.

The clarification comes amid heightened youth activism and growing civic engagement across the country, with young people increasingly seeking direct interaction with national leaders on governance, economic opportunities, and social reforms.

The Ichaweri residence in Gatundu has long been associated with the Kenyatta family and remains a symbolic political site, often drawing public attention during moments of national significance.
