Former Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho has responded with humour and caution to growing speculation that he will contest the Kirinyaga gubernatorial seat in the 2027 General Election.

In a Facebook post that has sparked discussion, Kibicho dismissed the claims while acknowledging the persistent grassroots chatter surrounding his alleged bid.

He joked that “the ground is very active” about his candidature, holding meetings and making decisions without his involvement.

According to Kibicho, supporters frequently stop him to share detailed updates about what has allegedly been agreed on his behalf.

“The reports are detailed. The tone is authoritative. The certainty is impressive,” he wrote, poking fun at the political grapevine that often shapes early campaign narratives.

He added that despite the reported consultations, he has never been invited to any of the meetings.

“No agenda. No minutes. But the feedback is always prompt,” he noted.

Kibicho also referenced claims that songs praising his leadership are circulating in Kirinyaga, saying he has yet to hear them or receive any recordings, despite reports that the singers are “very serious.”

The former powerful administrator, who served during the Jubilee administration, said he listens politely to such reports before continuing with his daily life.

“I nod thoughtfully like a man receiving classified intelligence. Then I go on with my day. Maisha yanaendelea,” he wrote.

Concluding his remarks, Kibicho suggested that he has not made any political decision, stating that he is “waiting for the heavens to speak,” adding that so far, “the heavens have not said a word.”

His remarks come amid early political alignments and speculation across Kirinyaga County, where potential candidates are quietly positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 race.

While Kibicho stopped short of confirming interest, his response has fueled further debate among residents and political observers about whether the former PS could eventually enter the contest.
