The Speaker of the National Assembly, Moses Wetangula, has expressed deep sorrow following the tragic death of Johana Ngeno, the Member of Parliament for Emurua Dikirr, who died in a helicopter crash on Tuesday evening.
In a statement, Wetangula described Ngeno’s death as a sudden and heartbreaking loss to both his constituency and the nation.
“I am deeply devastated to learn of the sudden passing of Hon. Johana Ng’eno, the Member of Parliament for Emurua Dikirr Constituency who passed on in a helicopter crash this evening,” he said.
He extended condolences on behalf of the Parliamentary Service Commission, the National Assembly, and himself to Ngeno’s family, friends, and constituents.
“On behalf of the Parliamentary Service Commission, the National Assembly, and on my own behalf, I convey our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and the people of Emurua Dikirr on this untimely loss that has robbed the nation of an astute leader,” Wetangula stated.
The Speaker hailed Ngeno as a committed and formidable leader, noting his dedication to public service and his unwavering advocacy for the people of Emurua Dikirr.
“Hon. Ngeno was a fierce leader who strongly defended the people he represented. He was also a dedicated public servant whose commitment to service and development was exemplary,” Wetangula added.
Wetangula acknowledged the grief faced by Ngeno’s family and assured them of national solidarity during the difficult period.
“To the family, no words can ease your pain. Please know that the entire country stands with you during this unimaginably difficult time. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” he said.
Ngeno, known for his active involvement in legislative matters and local development initiatives, leaves behind a legacy of service in a constituency that has benefited from his advocacy and constituency projects.
