Shipments Disappeared, Orders Were Cancelled — I Didn’t Know What Was Happening to My Business

For more than a decade, James Mwangi built a reputation as a reliable wholesale supplier serving retailers across Nairobi and neighbouring counties.

Operating from the busy trading corridors that feed the city’s retail economy, his transport and distribution business thrived on punctual deliveries, trust, and long-standing relationships.

At its peak, the enterprise supported his extended family and provided employment to over a dozen workers. Colleagues described him as disciplined and consistent — a businessman whose handshake carried weight.

That stability began to unravel in early 2024.

Shipments started going missing while in transit under unclear circumstances. Loyal customers who had worked with him for years abruptly cancelled orders without explanation.

Within weeks, two trusted employees resigned, offering vague reasons that left him unsettled. As income dropped, operating costs remained constant, pushing the business into debt.

At the same time, James began experiencing persistent fatigue, anxiety, and restless nights.

He struggled to concentrate and found himself overwhelmed by a sense of impending loss. Multiple medical check-ups showed no underlying illness, deepening his frustration.

Family members and close friends suggested that the sudden chain of setbacks seemed unusual. While James initially dismissed the idea, the convergence of business collapse, unexplained health distress, and relationship breakdowns led him to consider seeking alternative guidance.

He eventually contacted Dr Bokko, a spiritual and traditional healer known in various communities for offering counsel during complex personal crises. During the consultations, James discussed his business troubles, emotional strain, and strained relationships.

He was advised to undertake spiritual cleansing rituals and reconciliation steps aimed at restoring harmony within his family and professional networks.

The guidance also emphasized rebuilding trust, practicing protective routines, and approaching conflicts with humility and openness. Alongside the spiritual interventions, he was encouraged to restore structure in his daily routine and prioritize rest and mental clarity.

In the months that followed, James reports gradual but noticeable changes. Former clients reopened communication channels, leading to small but steady supply contracts.

A former employee returned to assist on a temporary basis, helping stabilize operations. Most importantly, he says his sleep improved and his anxiety eased, allowing him to make clearer decisions.

Although rebuilding the business remains a work in progress, James describes the period as a turning point that forced deep reflection. He began prioritizing personal wellbeing, repairing strained family ties, and strengthening professional relationships.

Today, he approaches business with renewed caution and balance, integrating financial discipline with attention to mental and emotional health.

He believes resilience is not only measured by profit margins but also by stability in one’s personal life and support networks.

Looking back, James says the experience reshaped his understanding of success.

What once seemed like an unstoppable decline became an opportunity to rebuild with stronger foundations, clearer priorities, and a restored sense of purpose. CONTINUE READING
