The National Police Service (NPS) has provided an update on investigations into the recent security incident at Witima Church, where former Deputy President and Rigathi Gachagua was attending a service alongside leaders allied to him.
In a press statement released on Sunday, February 15, the police said officers launched investigations immediately after receiving reports of alleged criminal activity linked to the disruption at the church and other public gatherings across the country.
The service noted that investigators have recorded statements, reviewed available footage, and analysed intelligence to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and identify any individuals responsible.
The NPS emphasized that the effectiveness and speed of the investigations depend heavily on formal reporting, detailed witness accounts, and cooperation from complainants and members of the public.
Authorities indicated that while preliminary inquiries have been conducted using information in the public domain, comprehensive investigations require affected persons and witnesses to record official statements to support evidence-based conclusions and possible prosecutions.
Police further appealed to anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist investigators, stressing that public cooperation is essential to ensure justice is pursued and upheld.
Reaffirming its commitment to impartiality and professionalism, the service stated that security concerns are handled objectively and in strict compliance with the Constitution, regardless of political, social, or religious context.
The statement underscored that the National Police Service serves all Kenyans without fear or favour.
Investigations remain ongoing, and authorities said further updates will be provided as appropriate.
