Moses Kuria has declared he will run for president in 2032, moments after congratulating newly elected MCAs in Mbeere North and reaffirming his support for President William Ruto in the 2027 General Election.

In a statement issued following mini-general elections in Evurore (Mukangu Jr) and Weche (Muminji) wards, the former Cabinet Secretary praised the winners and used the occasion to outline his long political journey in Kenya’s presidential campaigns.

Kuria said he has participated in major campaign operations dating back to the early 1990s. He recalled working at Kenneth Matiba’s campaign headquarters at Marlborough House in 1992.

He added that he was involved in the campaigns of Mwai Kibaki in 1997, 2002 and 2007.

He further noted his role in the 2013 and 2017 campaigns of former President Uhuru Kenyatta, before backing Ruto in the 2022 presidential race.

According to Kuria, he will again support Ruto’s re-election bid in 2027.
However, the former CS went a step further, stating that after 2027, he will mount his own presidential campaign in 2032.

“Take this to the bank,” he said, expressing confidence in his political trajectory.

Kuria argued that winning presidential campaigns is “more of science than art,” suggesting a data-driven and strategic approach to elections rather than relying solely on charisma or rhetoric.

His remarks are likely to spark early political debate, given that the 2027 General Election is still two years away.

Kuria’s declaration positions him within Kenya’s long-term succession politics, where alliances often shift after every electoral cycle.

By publicly backing Ruto for 2027 while signaling a 2032 bid, Kuria appears to be staking an early claim in the post-Ruto political landscape.
