Governor Abdulswamad Nassir held a high-level meeting with the leadership and staff of Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital yesterday, emphasizing the county government’s commitment to restoring public confidence in healthcare services.

Speaking to the hospital management and staff, Governor Nassir stressed the importance of compassionate, reliable care, noting that Mombasa residents rely heavily on public health facilities for essential services.

“We reviewed service delivery standards and the responsibility each of us carries to the people of Mombasa who depend on this facility every day,” he said.

During the engagement, the governor reiterated his Executive Order mandating free treatment for all children under five in public hospitals across the county.

He warned that non-compliance would not be tolerated, stating that any officer who violates the directive will face strict disciplinary action.

Governor Nassir also outlined plans to enhance accountability and citizen engagement in healthcare.

He announced that on Monday, the county will launch a County Call Center and on-site Customer Care Desks at major hospitals.

These platforms will allow residents to report service gaps, lodge complaints, and track responses directly from the governor’s office.

“Accountability in health care is not optional; it is the foundation of public service,” Governor Nassir said, urging staff to uphold professional standards and ensure residents receive timely, quality care.
