Suba North MP Millie Mabona Odhiambo has shared reflections from her recent participation in the United States National Prayer Breakfast held in Washington, DC, describing the high-level event as eye-opening and thought-provoking.

In a statement posted on social media, the outspoken legislator said she attended the prayer breakfast alongside other Kenyan leaders.

The event brought together influential figures from across the world, including US President Donald Trump, El Salvador President Nayib Bukele, and Democratic Republic of Congo President Félix Tshisekedi.

According to Millie Odhiambo, the gathering highlighted the diverse ways global leaders interpret faith, particularly Christianity, and how those beliefs shape personal values and public decision-making.

She noted that while all participants identified as Christians, their understanding of Jesus and what constitutes righteous or unacceptable conduct differed widely.

“One person may consider one activity a divine assignment whereas another person may consider it an abomination,” the MP observed, underscoring the complexity of faith in leadership spaces.

Despite these contrasts, she said she found the event engaging and worthwhile.

The US National Prayer Breakfast is an annual forum that blends faith, politics, and diplomacy, offering leaders an opportunity to reflect on values, governance, and global cooperation.

Kenyan leaders have historically participated in the event as part of broader diplomatic and parliamentary engagements.

Separately, Millie Odhiambo also commented on her recent involvement in the Committee on Human Rights of Parliamentarians, which concluded its sittings in Geneva.

She humorously noted the cold weather in the Swiss city, contrasting it with Africa’s generally warm climate.

The MP’s remarks come at a time when questions of faith, governance, and human rights continue to intersect both locally and internationally.

Her participation in these forums places her among Kenyan leaders actively engaging in global conversations on leadership, values, and parliamentary accountability.
