Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s recent tour of the United States has sparked political debate online after influencer Nzioka Muli claimed the opposition chief could receive significant foreign backing ahead of the 2027 General Election.

In a post on X, Muli alleged that Kalonzo would return to Kenya “with fire” after being funded by international policy institutions.

He named organisations including the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), Carnegie Endowment, Brookings Institution, Aspen Institute, Saban Centre, and Chatham House.

“Ile pesa Kalonzo atapewa na CFR, Carnegie Endowment, Brookings Institution, Aspen, Saban Centre, Chatham House... watch vile atakuja na moto. He’s their puppet now,” Muli wrote.

There has also been no public confirmation of any financial commitments tied to his engagements abroad.

Kalonzo has been touring parts of the United States, where he held meetings with diplomats, policymakers, and university leaders.

In a statement shared during the visit, he described the discussions as substantive engagements focused on governance, accountability, and leadership.

“Over the past several days in the United States, I have engaged in meaningful dialogue with international diplomats, ambassadors, policymakers, and university leaders,” Kalonzo said.

He also met members of the Kenyan diaspora in Baltimore, Washington, and Silver Spring, Maryland.

The former Vice President attended church services and town hall meetings, where Kenyans living abroad discussed governance challenges, economic pressures, and the need for institutional integrity.

Kalonzo said the diaspora engagements reinforced his belief that leadership must be grounded in constitutionalism, accountability, and respect for human dignity.

“Whether engaging with leaders or with Kenyans across our borders, one truth emerges: We Are Kenya and Together, We Shall Komboa Kenya,” he stated.

The Wiper leader has been positioning himself as a presidential contender in 2027, intensifying outreach both locally and internationally.

His allies, including Kathiani MP Robert Mbui and Makueni Senator Dan Maanzo, have accompanied him during the US tour.

As political activity gradually shifts toward the next electoral cycle, scrutiny over foreign influence and campaign financing is likely to remain a central issue in Kenya’s political discourse.
