Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba has publicly defended her support for William Ruto ahead of the next General Election, arguing that political loyalty should be guided by development outcomes rather than emotions.

In a social media post, the legislator said politics is driven by interests and tangible benefits to citizens.

She stressed that her primary responsibility is to the people of Githunguri Constituency, not the country at large.

“The currency of politics is interests. Stop the feelings,” she wrote, adding that cheering politicians or engaging in emotional political slogans does not translate into roads, electricity, or markets.

Wamuchomba argued that if the president delivers projects that residents demand, he deserves support to complete them. She emphasized that development, not political excitement, is what improves livelihoods.

The MP cited infrastructure and service delivery as key priorities, noting that local residents are more concerned about roads, power connectivity, and markets than political rhetoric.

She maintained that backing the president is a strategic decision aimed at ensuring ongoing projects are completed.

Her remarks come amid growing political realignments and early positioning ahead of the 2027 elections, with leaders across the country weighing alliances based on development records and electoral interests.

While her stance may spark debate within the opposition ranks, Wamuchomba framed her position as pragmatic leadership focused on results.

“I will support President Ruto to complete my projects of interest. Kazi kwanza,” she said.
