Activist Cop Shakur has publicly accused Mumias East MP Peter Salasya of misusing funds from sugarcane cartels, claiming the legislator prioritizes lavish personal spending over the welfare of farmers who elected him.

Speaking on social media from Bungoma, about 20 minutes from Mumias town, Shakur painted a vivid picture of Salasya’s alleged lifestyle since assuming office.

“Salasya is a good man, if you want to know, just invite him to a party that has women; he will spend, he will buy the most expensive alcohol using sugarcane cartels’ money he is given to stay silent,” Shakur wrote.

He claimed Salasya spends over KSh 150,000 weekly on women, alcohol, and bhang, yet draws the line when it comes to addressing the grievances of Mumias farmers.

“The day he was elected was the last day he fought for the grievances of Mumias sugarcane farmers. Pesa ya cartels anakula kukula,” Shakur added.

The activist did not stop at partying allegations.

He accused the MP of being unaware of essential community matters, including bursary distribution.

“Saa hii sugarcane farmers hawaskiki, every man for himself. They elected this man thinking he will represent them, lakini wapi. Jamaa Sikuhizi ni pombe 24/7, nursing hangovers daily. He even doesn’t know kama bursaries zilikuwa distributed,” Shakur said.

Shakur also questioned the source of Salasya’s wealth.

He claims the MP was financially constrained three years ago, surviving on a payslip that mostly went to car loans and a mortgage, leaving him with just KSh 2,000.

Today, Salasya is reportedly building a house valued at more than KSh 15 million.

“After becoming a Member of Parliament, Salasya is now building a house almost complete, funded by billionaire cartels running sugarcane industries in Western Kenya, in exchange for his silence,” Shakur alleged.

According to the activist, the silence of the MP is contributing to economic struggles in the region.

Farmers reportedly sell sugarcane at very low prices due to delayed payments, while local business owners face cash flow shortages.

“The economy of this region is highly influenced by sugarcane. Business people are struggling due to a lack of money circulation, farmers are not paid on time, yet Salasya remains silent,” Shakur noted.

Shakur announced plans to mobilize residents from the three wards of Mumias East to collect signatures for a recall petition against the legislator.

“Failure by Salasya to declare where he got the money to build a house is gross misconduct and sufficient grounds for a recall,” he said.

The activist emphasized that his comments are not personal attacks but a reflection of facts based on observations and the region’s ongoing economic struggles.
