Despite the confrontation, Gachagua said his team managed to reach Kagio, the central part of Kirinyaga, where he met residents.
He commended the local community for their resilience, describing them as courageous and united in advocating for political change ahead of the August 10, 2027, general elections.
“The people of Kirinyaga are resilient and courageous, united as one in the pursuit of change on August 10th, 2027,” he stated.
Gachagua ended his remarks by invoking blessings for the county and the nation.
The former deputy president’s visit comes amid heightened political tensions in Kirinyaga County, where several leaders have recently criticized security agencies for alleged harassment of political actors and supporters.
Analysts note that incidents of this nature may influence voter sentiment as the 2027 elections approach.
No immediate response was provided by the National Police Service regarding Gachagua’s allegations, though the agency has previously denied targeting any political figure during public engagements.
