The Office of former President Uhuru Kenyatta has issued a public warning over what it describes as the deliberate spread of false and misleading information circulating on social media platforms.
In a statement released on Thursday, the office said it had noted with concern the increasing circulation of posts attributed to the retired Head of State that are neither authorised nor reflective of his views.
The office stressed that such content does not represent the position of Mr Kenyatta or his official secretariat.
“The posts being shared are unauthorised and do not in any way present the views or position of H.E Uhuru Kenyatta,” the statement read, underscoring the risk of misinformation in a highly charged digital environment.
The office clarified that all official communication from the former president will only be issued through its verified channels, specifically the Office of the 4th President and official Jubilee Party platforms.
It said these channels remain the sole source of accurate and credible information regarding Mr Kenyatta’s public positions and engagements.
In an apparent response to rising political speculation online, the office urged Kenyans to remain vigilant and verify information before sharing it.
It warned that the unchecked spread of falsehoods undermines public trust and erodes the dignity of constitutional offices, even after retirement.
“The dignity of the Office of the 4th President of the Republic of Kenya remains paramount,” the statement noted.
The warning comes at a time when political discourse on social media has intensified, with public figures frequently targeted by fabricated statements and doctored content.
The statement, signed by Kanze Dena Mararo, Secretary of Communication in the Office of the 4th President, reaffirmed the office’s commitment to transparency, integrity and respectful engagement with the public.
The office said it will continue to provide timely and accurate information through official channels to ensure Kenyans remain properly informed.
