Tough Talking Education CS Says No Mercy for Exam Cheaters as 1,180 KCSE Students Blocked from Receiving Their Results

Eldoret, Kenya – The Ministry of Education has announced that 1,180 candidates will not receive their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) 2025 results after being caught in exam malpractice.

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba revealed the numbers during the official KCSE results announcement, highlighting the government’s firm stance against academic dishonesty.

“1,180 students were found to have been involved in examination irregularities. Consequently, and in line with the applicable law and regulations, their examination results have been cancelled,” CS Ogamba said.

The affected students were implicated in a range of offences, including cheating, collusion, and the use of unauthorized materials during the examinations.

CS Ogamba emphasized that the cancellations are necessary to uphold the credibility and fairness of national exams.

Officials confirmed that the students will not be eligible for university admission or other post-secondary education opportunities unless they retake the examinations. 

The Ministry urged parents, teachers, and learners to prioritize integrity, warning that similar strict measures will be applied in future exams.

This announcement comes as over 993,000 candidates across the country completed the KCSE 2025 exams. 

While most students will access their results as expected, the action against the 1,180 cheaters revealing the Ministry’s zero-tolerance approach to exam malpractice.

CS Ogamba reiterated that protecting the integrity of Kenya’s education system remains a top priority, and the Ministry will continue monitoring examinations closely to ensure fairness for all candidates.
