Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has sharply criticised an alleged security operation at Witima ACK Church in Othaya, Nyeri County, describing it as “terrorism” and a direct assault on Kenya’s constitutional order.
In a statement shared on X, Gachagua alleged that security officers fired live bullets, lobbed tear gas, and torched vehicles outside the church, trapping unarmed leaders and civilians inside the compound.
Reacting to the claims, Kalonzo said the reported use of force inside a place of worship was unlawful, indefensible, and deeply disturbing.

He argued that churches are protected spaces that must remain free from violence, regardless of political tensions or rivalries.
“This is a grave violation of the Constitution and the rule of law,” Kalonzo said, adding that no political ambition can justify terrorising citizens or deploying force against unarmed civilians gathered for worship.
The Wiper leader placed responsibility squarely on the national security leadership, saying the Inspector General of Police and all officers involved must be held fully accountable for the safety of Gachagua, his team, and members of the public who were reportedly inside the church at the time.
He insisted that Kenya must remain a constitutional democracy governed by law, not fear or violence.
