President William Ruto has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, saying it will be a key driver in accelerating Kenya’s Vision 2030 goals as the country enters the final stretch of the development blueprint.

In a statement shared on X, President Ruto said he received a thought-leadership presentation at State House, Nairobi, examining how the Bottom-Up agenda contributes to Vision 2030 and how it can enhance delivery over the next five years.

He said the engagement comes at a critical stage as Kenya advances its economic transition.

The presentation was led by Kisumu Governor Prof Anyang’ Nyong’o alongside a team of economists and policy experts, including Prof Karuti Kanyinga, Prof Oduor Wanyande, Prof Michael Chege, Mr Denis Onyango, and Mr George Omondi.

Members of the President’s Council of Economic Advisors also took part in the discussions.

According to the President, the team will continue working with his administration to help shape a coherent and forward-looking development vision for Kenya.

He noted that their continued engagement will be important in strengthening policy coordination and ensuring long-term economic planning remains inclusive and evidence-based.

President Ruto said the discussions offered valuable insights on aligning policies, promoting economic inclusion, and undertaking strategic reforms needed to sustain growth and competitiveness beyond 2030.

He reiterated that the Bottom-Up approach is designed to expand economic opportunities at the grassroots by focusing on small businesses, agriculture, affordable housing, manufacturing, and access to credit.

Vision 2030, launched in 2008, aims to transform Kenya into a globally competitive and prosperous country with a high quality of life for its citizens.

The Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda has been presented by the Kenya Kwanza administration as a practical framework for achieving these objectives by prioritising ordinary Kenyans.

The President said aligning short-term reforms with long-term national goals will be critical as Kenya positions itself for sustained growth and a transition toward first-world economic status beyond the Vision 2030 timeline.
