Kenya and the United Kingdom are strengthening their bilateral ties through a renewed strategic partnership focused on trade, investment, and socio-economic development, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has said.

In a statement shared on X, Mudavadi said his recent engagement with Dr Ed Barnett MBE, the United Kingdom’s Chargé d’Affaires, underscored the growing alignment between Nairobi and London on key economic and diplomatic priorities.

He noted that the partnership is anchored in shared values and a common objective of delivering tangible benefits to citizens in both countries.

Mudavadi highlighted the Kenya–UK Business Forum 2026, held in Nairobi on January 22, as a major milestone.

The forum, themed Building UK–Kenya Trade and Investment Partnerships for Sustainable Growth, brought together policymakers and investors and was attended by His Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for Africa, John Humphrey.

Discussions focused on expanding trade flows, attracting investment, and supporting sustainable economic growth.

On the investment front, Mudavadi pointed to the groundbreaking of the Flamingo Flowers expansion project in Naivasha on January 21 as a key outcome of the deepening partnership.

The project, undertaken alongside the Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock Development and the Principal Secretary for Investment Promotion, is expected to create more than 2,000 new jobs, strengthening Kenya’s horticulture sector and local employment.

The Prime CS also confirmed Kenya’s participation in the Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers Meeting scheduled for March 8, 2026, in London.

He said the visit will include strategic engagements, among them a speaking role at Chatham House, a leading international policy institute.

According to Mudavadi, Kenya plans to build on the current momentum to accelerate bilateral cooperation, including direct engagement with the UK Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, Yvette Cooper.

He said the ongoing engagements signal a commitment by both countries to translate diplomatic relations into measurable economic and social gains.
