The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has hailed a major victory in child protection after a Kajiado court sentenced a middle-aged man to life imprisonment for defiling an 11-year-old boy.

Principal Magistrate Hon. V. Kachuodho delivered the judgement, ruling that the offence, which occurred in 2022, involved the accused luring the boy from his home under false pretences.

The minor testified that he was isolated, threatened, and subjected to sexual abuse during the incident.

“The accused deliberately targeted a vulnerable child and employed intimidation and violence,” the court noted, emphasizing the severity of the crime and the appropriateness of the maximum sentence under Kenyan law.

Prosecution, led by Linda Nzioka, presented five witnesses whose testimonies were consistent and credible, proving the case beyond reasonable doubt.

Their accounts highlighted both the manipulative tactics of the perpetrator and the emotional impact of the abuse on the child.

The DPP’s office said the conviction underscores its commitment to protecting children and ensuring that perpetrators of sexual offences are held fully accountable.

“This ruling demonstrates that Kenya’s legal system takes offences against children seriously and will pursue justice relentlessly,” the statement read.

The case sends a strong warning to would-be offenders and strengthens Kenya’s ongoing efforts to safeguard minors.

The convicted man is expected to serve his life sentence at a maximum-security facility, with no possibility of early release.
