Junet Mohamed: 2022 Election Was Manipulated by Those Who Decide Who Becomes Kenya’s President

Suna East MP Junet Mohamed has reignited debate over the 2022 general elections, alleging that powerful actors influenced the outcome to prevent Raila Odinga from becoming president.

Speaking on JKL Live Wednesday night, Junet suggested that Kenya’s political “kingmakers” have historically controlled who assumes the presidency.

“Remember, up to Raila’s death, we were saying the servers should be opened.

The people who normally make people president in Kenya did not want to make Raila president.

That’s what I believe, without mentioning who’s who,” Junet told the show’s hosts.

He further claimed that this was not a one-off occurrence.

According to Junet, the same forces that determined the results in the 2007, 2013, and 2017 elections were reluctant to see Raila occupy State House.

“I think they were not very comfortable with him, maybe. They were camouflaging us that they were supporting him,” he added.

The MP’s remarks highlight lingering distrust among politicians and supporters regarding Kenya’s electoral processes.

While Kenya has invested heavily in technology and reforms to enhance transparency, allegations of interference and manipulation continue to surface after every election.

Junet’s intervention also shows the enduring legacy of Raila Odinga in the country’s political landscape.
