Former Azimio chief agent Saitabao Ole Kanchory has publicly accused Suna East MP Junet Mohamed of deliberately undermining Raila Odinga’s 2022 presidential bid.
In a series of posts on X, Kanchory claims Junet’s actions contributed directly to Azimio’s defeat.
Kanchory, who served as Azimio’s chief agent during the August 2022 General Election, alleges that Junet blocked him from attending a crucial campaign meeting at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) on June 24, 2022.
The meeting, he says, was to be attended by Raila Odinga and then-President Uhuru Kenyatta.
According to Kanchory, Junet feared he would expose irregularities involving the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
Carrying a dossier detailing what he described as a “tribal and partisan plot” by Junet’s allies within the IEBC to favour UDA and William Ruto, Kanchory claims he was prevented from presenting critical information.
Frustrated, he says he confronted Raila during a press briefing immediately after the meeting, insisting on a private discussion.
Kanchory says Raila questioned his absence from the KICC meeting, expecting him to present the dossier.
He adds that he later briefed Raila over breakfast, alongside advocate Paul Mwangi, but alleges that Junet dismissed his findings and repeatedly assured Raila that there were no IEBC irregularities.
Junet Mohamed has not responded publicly to these allegations.
The claims add fuel to ongoing debates within Azimio about internal strategy and accountability, raising fresh questions about what may have contributed to Raila Odinga’s loss in the 2022 elections
