Nyandarua Senator Methu Muhia has alleged that he was attacked on the road to Sagana while en route to a public engagement in Kagio, Mwea.

The incident reportedly occurred as he was traveling alongside former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, EGH.

In a brief statement shared on X, Muhia confirmed the attack but did not provide further details on the nature of the assault or whether any injuries were sustained.

"Attacked at Sagana while heading for a public engagement in Kagio, Mwea, alongside H.E. Rigathi Gachagua, EGH," he said.

The circumstances surrounding the attack remain unclear, including the identities of the assailants and their motive.

Security agencies in the area are yet to release an official statement on the matter.

This event comes amid heightened tensions in some parts of the region, where political engagements have occasionally been marred by unrest or interference.

Acknowledging the incident, former deputy president Gachagua on Friday evening detailed the event on social media.

"Despite the heavy attack by police, live ammunition, teargas, vandalism of our equipment and state-sponsored militia and violent brutality of the state, we reached the very heart of Kirinyaga County—Kagio. The people of Kirinyaga are resilient and courageous, united as one in the pursuit of change on August 10th, 2027. God bless you, and God bless Kenya," Gachagua stated.

Authorities are expected to investigate the attack fully, with Muhia urging citizens to cooperate with law enforcement in providing any information that could assist in identifying those responsible.

Both Muhia and Gachagua were scheduled to attend several engagements in Nyandarua and neighboring counties, underlining the significance of security measures for public officials during outreach activities.
